Rugged, Fanless, and Cloud-Ready: The Juniper EX4100-H Ethernet Switches for Extreme Environments
The Juniper EX4100-H Ethernet switches are rugged, fanless devices ideal for harsh environments like industrial automation, remote surveillance, and transportation. They combine Mist AI and Wired Assurance for cloud-based management, simplifying network operations.
Key features include:
Cloud‑ready, driven by Mist AI with Juniper Mist Wired Assurance and Marvis Virtual Network Assistant
Fanless switch with extended operating temperature range ‑40C to +75C
Dry Contact Alarms: two in and one out
Dual redundant PSUs: two AC PSUs or two DC PSUs or one AC and one DC PSU
Junos feature parity with EX4100 switches
Ethernet VPN–Virtual Extensible LAN (EVPN‑VXLAN) to the access layer
Standards‑based microsegmentation using group‑based policies (GBPs)
Switch‑to‑switch encryption using Media Access Control Security (MACsec) AES256
IEEE 802.3bz Multigigabit
IEEE 802.3bt Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE++)
Flow‑based telemetry to monitor traffic flows for anomaly detection and the ability to measure packet delays and report drop reasons
Precision Timing Protocol–Transparent Clock
10‑member Virtual Chassis support
MACsec AES256
The EX4100-H switches support IEEE 802.1ae MACsec with AES-256 encryption to secure point-to-point communication.
MACsec encrypts traffic at the link layer, protecting against threats like DoS, man-in-the-middle attacks, and wiretapping. It provides encryption on the wire while allowing the switch to apply policies such as quality of service (QoS) and deep packet inspection (DPI) to unencrypted traffic within the switch. This approach ensures enhanced security without impacting network performance or policy enforcement
PoE/PoE+/PoE++ power, perpetual and fast PoE
The EX4100‑H delivers PoE to connected devices such as environmental sensors, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), phones, surveillance cameras, IoT devices, and 802.11AX/Wi‑Fi 6 access points, offering a PoE of 90W per port based on the IEEE 802.3bt PoE standard.
Dry-contact Alarms
The EX4100-H switches support two-wire, two alarms in, and one alarm out via dry-contact alarms. These alarms provide critical alerts and monitoring functions, which can be integrated with external sensors.
This allows for automated corrective actions, improving overall system responsiveness and reliability in environments where continuous monitoring and quick reaction to anomalies are essential
In today’s evolving threat landscape, staying ahead of cyberattacks requires more than traditional security. Cato Networks elevates Extended Detection and Response (XDR) by integrating it into their SASE platform, delivering unified threat detection and proactive defence. Discover how this...
